I'm an experienced professional and I have worked as a qualified Marine Surveyor and Naval Architect of sailing yachts and powerboats for the past 25 years. I am a full Member of the Yacht Designers and Surveyors Association, the Royal Institution of Naval Architects and the British Marine Federation.
Based in Salcombe, my surveying and consultancy work covers all areas in Cornwall, Devon and the South West, UK.

I provide a range of marine services for boat owners, boat builders and yacht designers. These services include, Surveys, MCA Coding and Recreational Craft Directive Consultancy. Most of my work is carried out in the South Devon harbours and marinas of Plymouth, Totnes, Dartmouth, Noss, Kingswear, Brixham, Torquay as well as Salcombe.
Marine Surveys
If you are buying a boat, a Full Pre-Purchase Condition Survey is always recommended. I can offer a Partial Survey by arrangement, the most common being a Structural Survey.
MCA Coding
As a qualified Naval Architect and Level 1 Nominated Surveyor I can carry out inclining experiments and complete stability books for Category 0 and 1 operation in house.
Recreational Craft Directive
I have been involved with the Recreational Craft Directive since before its inception on the 30th June 1998, when I was responsible for Recreational Craft Directive Compliance for the Bowman and Starlight range.
Naval Architecture
I have developed some effective methods of transferring traditional lines drawings into a digital format, which can then be used for the production of stability books or for production modelling including plug design.
Tonnage Measurement
I am an approved Tonnage Measurer for the Yacht Designers and Surveyors Association and can help you if you plan to register your boat on Part I of the British Registry.

As a fully qualified Naval Architect, Chartered Engineer and Marine Surveyor I can provide expert advice in Marine Surveying, MCA Coding and Recreational Craft Directive.
